![]() ![]() Really hope Google either picks up Picasa again or develop a new Photo management tool for PC with the best of Picasa. If they really wanted users to store all the images on cloud, they could have just integrated backup feature in Picasa but leave the photo browsing tool as it is. Google could have kept developing for Picasa as it did not have any overlap with Google Photos. ![]() The current capability of Google AI would have put Picasa miles ahead of other softwares for PC with such accurate Face detection, scene detection, tagging, image editing, etc. For example, it is not very easy to open, view, and manage HEIC images on Windows due to the lack of HEIF codec support. Seeing the developments Google made in AI and implementing those features in Google Photos, it's a shame that Picasa was not able to make benefits of those developments. Although HEIC is the native photo format on iOS 11 and later, it is still not widely used in the ecosystem outside of Apple devices. The Face grouping feature from Picasa is so good that no other software has been able to catch up to its speed and accuracy even after years of closing down Picasa. It had all the features required for average user as well as power user. Picasa was the best Photo management tool available for windows. ![]()
